8.      Don’t forget about FERPA – This is the one that has the most potential to bite someone.  Sharing information about a student with someone who doesn’t “need to know” is illegal.  You will find out that teachers are constantly gossiping about students in the teacher’s lounge, complaining about students at the supermarket, and blogging about students on the internet.  I know it is tempting to vent about a student who is giving you trouble…and that it makes you feel better to share your burden with someone who cares.  Don’t do it!
