Have A "Plan B"

6.      Have a “Plan B” – No matter what video you choose to show your class, it is a safe bet that at least one or two parents will have a problem with it for various reasons.  With this in mind, it is a good idea to give students the opportunity to opt out of seeing the video.  Students who opt out of the video will be moved to another room, and given an alternate assignment.  Make arrangements with a teacher in your hallway to let the student(s) into their room to complete the alternate assignment, and notify the administration that you have an opt out policy for the video.  You will find that very few (if any) students will opt out of seeing the video, and that any angry parent phone call can quickly be ended by stating your opt out policy.
