Teachers are not being taught how to integrate
technology into their lessons.I am not
sure why this is not happening, but I have some theories:1.Technology is changing so quickly that colleges and universities become
frustrated and decide to not teach technology (because two years later the
instruction becomes obsolete.)2.Technology is not taught because there is no
guarantee that any technology will be available to the teacher when he/she gets
a job, anyway.3.Teaching technology requires a lot of money
to purchase the hardware and software, and financially-strapped universities
choose to spend their money elsewhere.4.Many professors are
“lecture-only”, and see technology as something that someone else should be
teaching.Professors feel an obligation
to teach “theory”, and leave the practical knowledge for school districts to
teach their new teachers after hiring them.School districts assume that the teachers they hire already know how to
implement technology, so many teachers receive no training at all!
