1. Not enough sleep – While it is true that the amount of sleep that a person needs varies from person to person, one thing is constant…most students do not get nearly the amount of sleep that they need. What you can do: Bring your concerns to the parent, and brainstorm ways for their student to get more sleep. Suggest that the parent take the student’s phone at 9:00 p.m. each night (many call and text their friends off and on all night long). Maybe taking the student’s computer, iPod, or T.V. out of their room would be a good idea as well. A child’s sleeping area should be free from outside stimulation…find some research on the internet to cite as your reason for suggesting these things.
