5.      Be organized – If you are taking weeks to grade and return assignments, if you are losing assignments, or if you have an extremely cluttered room, students are going to interpret that as you not giving your best effort (or worse…they will think you are a mess!)  Students will lose respect for you.  I know what you are saying, “They should respect me because I am the teacher!”  Uh, yeah…as discussed in another section of this website, those days are long gone.
