4. Use every resource available – Dig up everything you can to help you succeed. Most states make available “Released Items”, which are old test questions from past versions of the state test. Integrate them into your own tests. Find ancillary materials to teach with…don’t rely solely on your textbook. You have access to resources that your predecessors could only dream of. You have the internet, which is filled with information…I mean, you were smart enough to find THIS awesome website, right? Newteacherhelp.com has links to many reservoirs of information for teachers, heck…even the ads will direct you to useful sites! Some states ask for volunteers to help score the thousands of state tests they have to score every year. Volunteering to help score tests in your subject area will give you inside information as to what state assessors are looking for.
